Sustainability at St. Augustine's

At St. Augustine's we ensure that we are honouring our existence in the world as people who can care and look after our environment. As a Catholic school we look to be stewards of creation and make our school a sustainable place.

We recycle and reduce our rubbish in ways we can. We have solar panels in our school to conserve energy and gather water in our water tanks to water and maintain our native plants.

Nude Food is a way to be sustainable at St Augustine's

1. Buy less packaging: Lots of kids love yoghurt... Buy the larger container of yoghurt and serve out portions into the smaller washable lunch containers.

2. The snacks you can buy in individual packaging can be bought in big packs and then divided up into smaller zip lock bags or put into a section of a divided lunch box.

3. Put sandwiches or wraps into a container without the glad wrap.

4. Pop some fruit in the lunch box rather than sugary snacks in wrappers. A banana or an apple is great food for the brain and comes in its own wrapper.

5. Encourage the "If I bring it, I take it away" thinking that's good for wherever you go. If you simply have to have some wrappers on some days, encourage your children to bring all their wrappers home again.
